Terms of Service

Last updated: October 30, 2026

Welcome to Ask A Contractor (askacontractor.org). By using this site, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

What this site is — and is not

Ask A Contractor provides general home-improvement information for educational purposes, organized by contractor niche. The answers are written to help you understand a project, talk to contractors, and compare quotes.

Verify before you start a project

Always verify licenses, insurance, permits, and local building codes with your state or local licensing board and building department before work begins. Electrical, plumbing, gas, structural, and roofing work can be dangerous and is often legally required to be done by licensed professionals with permits and inspections.

Your submissions

When you submit a question through the Ask a Question form, you grant Ask A Contractor permission to publish your question — edited for clarity, length, and spelling — together with our answer, on the site and in related formats. We never publish your name, email address, or phone number with your question. Do not submit private, confidential, or sensitive personal information in the question itself. You keep ownership of anything else you submit, and you are responsible for making sure your submission does not violate anyone else's rights.

We are not obligated to answer or publish every question, and we may decline or remove submissions at our discretion.
